Proving that persistence pays off, Kendyl Carol Bell, a stunning brunette from Sandy, Utah, was crowned Miss Utah USA October 22, 2012 on her fourth attempt.  She will represent Utah at the prestigious Miss USA Pageant where she hopes to continue the successful footsteps of her predecessors.

Kendyl is not only beautiful but smart.  She graduated from Brigham Young University with a Bachelors Degree in Communications.  During her studies at BYU she was selected to be part of a internship program for the Utah State Senate.  They following year she was asked to be Intermountain HealthCare’s intern during the legislative session.  This catapulted her political career; following her graduation she landed a job on Senator Orrin Hatch’s re-election campaign.  Kendyl currently works with the municipal government in Utah as the Community Outreach Manager for Republic Services, focusing on recycling program implementation.

She also works as a Zumba instructor for various gyms in the Salt Lake Valley.  Kendyl has been a licensed instructor since October of 2008.  She loves all of the Latin rhythms especially salsa and dancing an hour and 700 calories away with her students.

Although academics, work, and pageants occupied most of her time she never forgot what was most important to her.  In March 2011 Kendyl visited Peru to help provide free medical and dental care for the Peruvians in villages too far away and impoverished to receive the care they needed.  In 2008 Kendyl spent a month in Zambia, Africa making bricks, building schools, providing care for those suffering from AIDS, and playing with children.

After her diagnosis with Asthma at 17 Kendyl began volunteering for the American Lung Association.  In 2008 she was given the Volunteer of the Year Award by the national American Lung Association for her Asthma education program Blue Balloon Day that raised over $50,000 and reached 33,000 students.

After losing her grandmother to Breast Cancer 7 weeks before the Miss Utah USA completion Kendyl would like to dedicate her year as Miss Utah USA to those affected by Breast Cancer.

Kendyl is very dedicated and hardworking, as a trained dancer and vocalist the stage is home for her.  You often can find her singing the national anthem at various venues across the state or spending time with her family.
